Abstract: A 30 days breeding test was performed to investigate the effects of stocking density and water temperature on survival and growth of juvenile Brocarded carp. Five stocking density treatments (10, 30, 50, 70, 90 fish/m3) and five water temperature treatments (10, 15, 20, 25, 30℃) were setted, respectively. The results showed that there were no significant difference in other indexes (P>0.05) except the average final total weight between 10 fish/m3 and 30 fish/m3. When the stocking density was greater than 30 fish/m3 and with the increase of stocking density, the average survival rate, final weight, daily gain and specific growth rate of juvenile Brocarded carp were significantly decreased (P<0.05), but the average final total weight and feed coefficient were significantly increased (P<0.05). With the increase of water temperature, the average final weight, daily gain and specific growth rate of juvenile Brocarded carp showed a trend of increasing first and then decreasing, with the maximum value at 25℃ group and significantly higher than other water temperature groups (P<0.05). But the feed coefficient first decreased and then increased, with the minimum value at 25℃ group. Considering comprehensively feed coefficient and yield per unit water, we suggested that the suitable water temperature and stocking density for Brocarded carp cultured in still water pond were 25℃ and 30 fish/m3.
